25,26 km cycling route from L'Hom to L'Esperou
The GTMC cycle route leaves the Causses behind as you enter the Massif de l'Aigoual mountain range. At the Col de Perjuret, marvel at the breath-taking views over the Jonte Gorges.
As to the summit of the Mont Aigoual, this is the high point of the whole route, in all senses! On really clear days, you can take in virtually a quarter of France, from the mighty Mont Blanc in the Alps to the Mont Canigou in the Pyrenees, with the Cantal Volcano somewhere inbetween! Plus, in really good weather, you can even spot the Mediterranean from up here, for the first time on the
GTMC route.

On your gravel bike, you’ll ride along many stretches of tarmacked roads on this stage, given the tricky topography and the technical difficulties of the paths.
To reach the highest point along the whole GTMC route, at an altitude of 1,567m, you start out from the Col du Perjuret, following the D9 road right up to the Mont Aigoual. The climb is long but gradual and doesn’t present any particular difficulties. The summit offers sublime views in clear weather… and here you enter the département (French county) of the Gard. After the Mont Aigoual, you descend via a fine tarmacked track to the Col de Prat Peyrot. And the descent to L’Espérou also leads you along lovely tracks to enjoy on gravel bike.
